【November 2】 “Introduction to Entrepreneurship” get into the second half after completing the 4th week classes.

 “Introduction to Entrepreneurship”, a new lecture from this fall semester, had started from October 12th 2019 with the total of 24 students (12 Japanese students, 5 international students and 7 from companies).

The instructor is Professor Takaaki Takashima who had worked at IBM for 32 years after completing the master’s degree in Computer Science as the first graduate of Toyohashi University of Technology. The objectives, contents and schedule of the lesson are as follows.

Based on the instructor’s 32 years work experience at IBM, the history of transformation of IBM, a globalcompany, is explained. Throughout them, understand importance of starting new business, sustain andgrowth along social change by understanding the facts actually occurred and the reasons behind it.

 

A number of topics and cases that will help raise awareness and understanding are provided to students.

 

Week 1: Introduction. What is “Business” and what is “Entrepreneurship” ?

Week 2: From the foundation of IBM to prosperity

Week 3: Survive from the edge of the bankruptcy and acceleration of transformation

Week 4: IBM in Japan, Japan in IBM. Globally Integrated Enterprise.

Week 5: IBM R&D Strategy. Case study: Kirirom Institute of Technology at Cambodia

Week 6: Comparative analysis of IBM and Toyota’s financial report

Week 7: IP (Intellectual Property) Business Development. Marketing & Contract Negotiation.

Week 8: Looking at Japan from Silicon Valley and global society

   

 

 

“Applied Entrepreneurship”  the member of a class is being recrutited now.
