【July 6】Class of Capital Policy in Course B of Business School

In the second quarter, at Course B “Business Development Theory: Technical Skills”, Dr. Tomohiro Anzai, the director of Fast Track Initiative, Inc., as a part-time lecturer hereby, had a class of Capital Policy, under the main stream supervisor and another part-time lecture, Associate Professor Shintaro Sengoku, Tokyo Institute of Technology.

During about initial 30 minutes in the lecture of the day, Mr. Takuya Kawano, an adult student, made a representative presentation regarding the project topic (marketing 4P on the cleaning robot for the elderly people) already provided by Professor Tomokazu Kubo, Chuo University in the past class.

Starting from the basic explanation of financial statements by Dr. Tomohiro Anzai in the remaining 90 minutes, he lectured on basic functions of entrepreneurial finance based on experience as a venture capital and guided case exercises by group discussion. His discussion points include, firstly, as three elements of capital policy like Invested capital (Capital), Corporate value (Valuation), and Ownership (Share). Secondly, there is a trade-off of stock pricing between the capital gains of existing shareholders and the ownership increase in new investors while capital procurement is repeated. As a third, there are main investment exist strategies as Initial Public Offering (IPO), Merger and Acquisition (M&A), and the role of lead investors at syndicated investment. And fourthly, as an ideal capital structure at the time of IPO, following points were emphasized as a small number of good shareholders, stock low liquidity of existing shareholders, and the stock acquisition rights not left remained. It was considered that the exercise was deeply planned from practical experience.
